dotTrace Performance “floating” licences on VS08 - release without closing VS??

Hi,

 

We have a dotTrace Performance “floating” licence between a number of devs and we're wondering is there a way to release the licence in Visual Studio 08 without shutting down the IDE? Are we missing something obvious?

Hi,

 

You can Suspend dotTrace in VS by going to Tools-> Options -> dotTrace -> Suspend/Resume

We are aware about the usability problem regarding to "floating" licences release, it is going to be fixed in the next minor release.

Is there an expected release (or even a date for an "early preview") of the patch with this fix.  We are also experiencing this issue.  The current implementation makes using floating licenses virtually impossible from practical standpoint.

For sure this will be fixed in dotTrace next minor release.

Probably EAP will start without this fix, but  you can expect this fix in around a month from now.

Hi,

 

The problem with taking floating licence on VS startup is now solved in dotTrace 4.5 EAP.

For now there are still a related bug.

But the main problem "taking license on VS startup" is solved.

I have tried the nightly builds but I can never seem to obtain a license because it says there are no free licenses for dotTrace 4.5.  My server shows free licenses for 4.0.  Do I need a different license for 4.5?

You are not expected to have an additional license for 4.5

Thank you for reporting that, it will be fixed in a  short terms.

I have the same problem with build 4.5.818.73 - its reporting no free ticket available from license server. License server says no ticket has been issued.

 

Has this been fixed in a later release?

License server is latest build 257. I'll try a later dotTrace profiler.

Still not issuing a license. This is becoming a real problem for us.

I have the same builds installed, but do not see the issue.

Please contact me privatelly to Ivan.Shakhov at jetbrains.com and send me your license data from the purchase email.

 

Please make sure that license server is really build 257 - check it in the UI (screenshot attachedbuild.jpg)

Sorry - I realise was trying to activate pro-edition license. Our license is standard.
