Why can't we open a really large snapshot?

We have some very large files - close to 1GB and larger and get out of memory errors even on very "hefty" machines.

 

Is there something we can do, using dottrace 3.1

That happens because dotTrace 3.1 loads entire snapshots into memory and it's a 32-bit application. I suggest you to try a EAP build of dotTrace 4.0 which should support pretty large snapshots (we tested cases up to 500GB files).
