Failed to CoCreate profiler

Hi,

I have a laptop x64 with Windows 7. I have created an IIS site on our server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard) where I host the dotTrace RemoteAgent web serivice. I can connect to it from my laptop in dotTrace and I choose to profile "IIS Appliction". But when it try to start it crach after a while. Nothing in the event log on my laptop. When I look at the server I can see that the whole IIS has stoped and I can see ".NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.5448 - Failed to CoCreate profiler" in the event log.

I have seen other threads about this problem on this forum but I didnt found a solution. What is the problem?

FYI

I have also tried against another server (Windows Server 20003). Here I only started the RemoteAgent.exe (i.e. I'm not host it in IIS). Here it works fine.

Best Regards,

Thomas

Re: Failed to CoCreate profiler

Hi Thomas,

In your case the problem is that dotTrace can't use remote agent hosted on IIS and profile IIS on remote machine at the same time. As you see, when remote agent doesn't work on IIS, profiling works, so, if it's possible, just launch it without IIS.
