Setting an SVN root pointing to a Windows share

Hello, I'm having trouble setting up a VCS root using SVN. My SVN repositories are accessed through the network using a url like : file:///G:/Server/Repos/TargetProjectRepo

But when I'm setting up a root it says "svn: E180001: Unable to open repository". I tried many permutations of slashes and URL formats and it didn't do anything. I tried a few google searches and most people seem to use a svn:// url format but I don't have an SVN server and tortoise seems to be fine with that.

How can I set it up on TeamCity ?
